(AED) Automated External Defibrillator / (PAD) Public Access Defibrillation Program

The Alameda County EMS Agency promotes County-wide AED placement and usage through our Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program, registering the locations of AEDs, tracking their usage, and ensuring that they are ready when needed.

Alameda County STEMI System

A coordinated network aimed at providing prompt and effective care for individuals experiencing severe heart attacks. This system involves collaboration between EMS providers and hospitals equipped with specialized cardiac facilities, ensuring that patients receive rapid diagnosis, transport, and treatment.

Alameda County Stroke System

A comprehensive network designed to provide rapid identification, transport, and treatment of individuals experiencing stroke symptoms. The system involves coordinated efforts between emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, who are trained to recognize stroke signs and symptoms, and hospitals designated as stroke centers.

Alameda County Trauma System

An organized network of healthcare facilities, emergency responders, and protocols designed to provide rapid and efficient care for individuals experiencing traumatic injuries. The system includes designated trauma centers, such as hospitals with specialized capabilities to handle severe injuries, as well as pre-hospital services like paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs).

EMS Warehouse

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alameda County EMS assumed responsibility for resource management and established a supply warehouse. Now operating as a permanent, all-hazards facility, it has successfully distributed over 38.6 million items.

The Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) provides leadership and funding through cooperative agreements to states, territories, and eligible metropolitan areas to improve the capacity of the health care system to plan for and respond to large-scale emergencies and disasters.

Stop the Bleed is a nationwide campaign to empower people to act quickly and be the help until help arrives. Just as it is important to learn how to perform CPR, you can learn how to use your hands, dressings and tourniquets to control bleeding.
