Public Health
The Public Health Department focuses on community and population-level health, preventing and addressing root causes of health inequity across a range of communicable and chronic diseases.
Environmental Health
The Environmental Health Department works to keep our air, water, and food safe; it regulates, protects, and promotes the health of everyone in Alameda County by enforcing environmental health codes to reduce exposure to toxins and diseases.
East Bay Regional Park District Water Management program
ACEHD has a collaborative partnership with East Bay Regional Park District for protecting public health by monitoring and notifying the public about the water quality conditions at natural water recreational swim areas (lakes, ponds, San Francisco Bay).
The Small Water Systems (SWS) Program provides regulatory oversight of water systems that serve a minimum of five and no more than 14 service connections to ensure that drinking water is safe, wholesome, and potable, thereby protecting public health, safety, and welfare to the greatest extent possible.
