Public Health
The Public Health Department focuses on community and population-level health, preventing and addressing root causes of health inequity across a range of communicable and chronic diseases.
Environmental Health
The Environmental Health Department works to keep our air, water, and food safe; it regulates, protects, and promotes the health of everyone in Alameda County by enforcing environmental health codes to reduce exposure to toxins and diseases.
We promote health equity in Alameda County, working to eliminate health disparities and ensure people who face the greatest barriers to health have access to opportunities and resources.
The Health Equity, Policy, and Planning (HEPP) Unit leads ACPHD’s efforts to advance health and social equity – to create an Alameda County where everyone has the same opportunity for long, healthy lives, regardless of race, income and neighborhood where they live.
The Office of Ethnic Services (OES) advances health equity by training internal and external stakeholders, staffing our affinity advisory groups, and creating the cultural competency plan.
We engage, promote, and support families, family-run organizations, and programs of those whose loved ones receive care. We also train and enable families to be certified to join the workforce.
The Office of Peer Support Services is committed to transforming the behavioral health system by engaging, promoting, supporting and empowering peers receiving services, and peer-run organizations and programs.
We respond to questions and complaints from consumers being treated in psychiatric hospitals/facilities, long-term facilities or adult residential facilities.
