Program Information

The Onsite Wastewater System (OWS) Program permits OWS to ensure safe and sanitary disposal of sewage for new and existing development projects in Alameda County. The OWS Program provides regulatory oversight and guidance for wastewater disposal systems to protect human health and the environment. The OWS Program permits and provides oversight for onsite wastewater treatment systems, onsite wastewater containment units, septic tank effluent pump systems, septic tank effluent gravity systems, portable toilets, and septage pumper trucks.

Small Water Systems Program

The Small Water Systems (SWS) Program provides regulatory oversight of water systems that serve a minimum of five and no more than 14 service connections to ensure that drinking water is safe, wholesome, and potable, thereby protecting public health, safety, and welfare to the greatest extent possible.
