Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA)
The Behavioral Health Services Act replaces the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) of 2004. It reforms behavioral health care funding to prioritize services for people with the most significant mental health needs, while adding the treatment of substance use disorders (SUD), expanding housing interventions, and increasing the behavioral health workforce.

Critical Care Management Team

Comprised of licensed clinicians, the Critical Care Management Team supervises psychiatric resources, authorizes services for those on involuntary holds, helps to ensure quality care, and collaborates on treatment plans.

Drop-in Urgent Care

We have walk-in clinics located throughout the county where clients can receive same-day medication assessment, treatment, and referrals for ongoing psychiatric care.

Eating Disorder Services (ED)

An Eating Disorder Consultant offers guidance and training to clinicians who need additional support in the treatment of clients who may present with symptoms related to eating issues or eating disorders, allowing these clients to continue treatment with their current clinician.

Intensive Care Coordination (ICC)

ICC is responsible for facilitating assessment, care planning, and coordination of services, including urgent services.

Intensive Home-Based Services (IHBS)

IHBS aims to help youth build skills necessary for functioning in the home and community and can be effective in preventing a child from being removed from the home.

Medication Support

Medication Support provides oversight and support to psychiatric prescribers throughout ACBHD. It helps to assure access to appropriate medication services, medications, and laboratory monitoring for ACBHD Clients.

Outreach Programs (Adults & Older Adults)

We provide intensive outreach and engagement with people needing behavioral health services who may be reluctant or resistant to treatment.

Primary Care Psychiatry Consultation Program (PCPCP)

We provide psychiatric consultation within primary care settings, enhancing capacity for the treatment of mild to moderate behavioral health conditions within primary care clinics.

REACH Ashland Youth Center

REACH Ashland Youth Center
Ashland Youth Center is a winning example of a free-to-all, County-operated youth center. Designed by youth for youth, REACH helps transform urban unincorporated Alameda County by bringing no-cost Recreation, Education, Arts, Career, and Health programs to young people ages 0-24.

School Based Behavioral Health Services (SBBH)

Alameda County offers mental health services in a number of schools to enrolled children and youth with full scope Medi-Cal who meet medical necessity for Medi-Cal Specialty Mental Health Services. These services are made available onsite during the school day and after school hours as needed.

SBBH provides support for students oriented around prevention and wellness, and builds the capacity for all adults in their lives to better understand and address social-emotional needs at school and at home.

Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC)

TFC is a short-term, intensive, and individualized intervention provided by a TFC parent to a child or youth with complex emotional and behavioral needs.

Transitional Age Youth Services

Transitional Age Youth Services focuses on improving outcomes for individuals aged 18-24 facing significant behavioral health challenges. The program aims to facilitate successful transitions to independence by collaborating with families, promoting self-sufficiency, and seamless integration into the community.
