Alameda County Behavioral Health (ACBHD) offers comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder services through County-operated programs and contracted community-based organizations (CBOs).

Our mission is to promote recovery, resilience, and wellness for Alameda County residents experiencing serious mental health, alcohol, or drug challenges.

Internship and Trainee Opportunities

We offer graduate and post-graduate students a range of internship experiences within our five Systems of Care:

  • Children and Transition Age Youth (TAY)
  • Adults and Older Adults
  • Substance Use Services
  • Crisis Support Services
  • Forensic Services

We offer a variety of internship/trainee placements in:

  • Community-based clinics
  • Specialized youth and adult programs
  • Culturally specific CBO settings

If your interests and qualifications align with an available opportunity, a program coordinator will contact you.

Please Note:

Interns participating in County-operated programs or those placed with contracted, community-based organizations may be eligible to apply for the ACBHD Graduate Intern Stipend Program, which is awarded for up to 20 students through a competitive process.
