Program Description: As a county health program, HSC (Healthy Schools and Communities) is uniquely positioned in schools and communities. Our access and knowledge of behavioral health and wellness systems provides an invaluable experience to student interns. We are committed to empowering families and youth, growing the capacity of communities to affect change, and building strategic partnerships that link health and education institutions to achieve equity.
- Combined direct service + macro/systems interns, spends one day a week providing direct services, and 2 days focused on projects that engage and strengthen systems of behavioral health supports, and build capacity to meet the behavioral health needs of students. Activities such as: program evaluation, program development, designing capacity building frameworks, etc.
- Clinical direct-service interns at REACH Ashland Youth Center, provides behavioral health services to youth and families at the REACH Ashland Youth Center. Services include: individual therapy, case-management, social-emotional wellness groups, youth development groups, and milieu support.

Program/Placement Hours: To be determined.
Preferred Discipline / Experience:
- Macro/Systems + Clinical placement: Enrolled in a social work or counseling program that focuses on and requires clinical direct service experience AND systems-level projects, and/or on a dual-master’s track (i.e. MSW + MPH).
- REACH Clinical placement: 2nd yr MSW or MFT students preferred Previous experience working with children/youth and their families Spanish speaking highly
First or Second Year Students: Second-year MSW or MFT students preferred but will consider first-year candidates with experience in the field.
Supervision & Support:
- Weekly Clinical Supervision
- Monthly Case Consultations (English, and Spanish if applicable)
- Access to clinically focused trainings
- Hands-on systems and capacity building training

Stipends Available: We offer a $5000/year stipend for those who are not already receiving a placement related stipend (i.e., MHSA, CalSWEC, IBH). Bilingual candidates receive an additional $500.
