Program Description: Provide brief counseling (approx. 12 sessions), crisis intervention (however, not set up as a crisis center), family therapy, couples therapy, individual therapy, and group therapy. Trainees will collaborate with programs within agency, schools, and outside agencies involved in treatment. Trainees will develop skills in narrative therapy, family and community approach to clinical work, Medi-Cal paperwork, treatment planning, and effective resource linkage.
Placement Period: Practicum-level (including MFT, MSW) students: August-June;
Predoctoral/Postdoctoral Intern-level students: August-August
Program/Placement Hours: Practicum requirements 20 hours per week (24 hours optional). Intern requirements 35 hours per week (40 hours optional). Thursdays from 10-5pm mandatory for training. 1-2 evening hours until 8pm required.
Preferred Discipline / Experience: Practicum level (including third year doctoral, advanced Masters level, post-Masters level) and intern level (pre and post-doctoral). Bi-lingual candidates encouraged to apply. Candidates with narrative experience and/or interest in learning about narrative therapy, experience with providing family therapy as well as experience with Medi-Cal documentation/charting preferred.
First or Second Year Students: Second Year (First Year considered with experience)
Supervision & Support: Weekly individual supervision, weekly case conference, monthly group/peer consultation, and other consultation meetings as appropriate.
