Alameda County Health, Behavioral Health Department has established a pre-trial mental health diversion program with funding from the Department of State Hospitals. The current pilot is a two-year program aimed at diverting individuals who have been found incompetent to stand trial on felony charges into local treatment resources at the right-matched level of care and avoid any unnecessary transfers to a state hospital.
