Preparing for a WIC Appointment

What should I expect at my first WIC appointment?

You will receive an Individualized Nutrition Assessment for each qualifying member of your family.

Please watch these videos before your first appointment:

Please read prior to your appointment: English | Spanish | Chinese | Arabic | Vietnamese

Required for first WIC appointment:

  • Identification for yourself and any children from birth to age 5 years (for example: immunization record, birth certificate, medical cards, etc.)
  • Proof of pregnancy for pregnant participants
  • Proof of address — a document verifying your current address
  • Proof of income — current documents such as paycheck, tax return, or letter from employer

Video Appointments:

WIC offers some appointments as video calls!

It’s easy! You won’t need to download anything or register.
It’s secure! Don’t worry. Your video appointments will be secure.
It’s convenient! You can speak “face-to-face” with a:

  • WIC Counselor
  • WIC Nutritionist
  • WIC breastfeeding educator or specialist

To use our WIC video service, you need:

  • A device like a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
  • A good internet connection
  • An internet browser: Chrome, Firefox, or Safari

WIC Video Appointments: Get Started – It’s Easy!

WIC will contact you to schedule an appointment. Before your appointment you will get a text or email from your WIC office with a link and information to check-in. Please note: Some WIC appointments are required to be done in-person. Please speak to WIC staff for more details.

Follow these simple steps to connect:

  1. A few minutes before your appointment, click the link or type the link into your internet browser. You also can copy and paste the link into your browser.
  2. Your WIC office video call page appears. Type in your name and click “Check in.”
  3. Click the purple button to use the camera and microphone on your device.

You are now in the video call waiting room until your WIC counselor starts the video appointment.
