Program Information
The Blue Skies Mental Wellness Program provides compassionate, personalized support for pregnant and parenting people with children under two in Alameda County. The perinatal period can be joyful and exciting, but it can also bring challenges that feel overwhelming. Blue Skies offers a safe, nurturing, and welcoming space where every family can feel supported and understood as they navigate this important stage of life.
As part of Alameda County’s home visiting system, Blue Skies meets families where they are, including in their homes, through telehealth, in our offices, or in the community. Services are provided in whatever setting best meets the needs of parents and their babies. Our team includes licensed clinicians experienced in perinatal mental wellness who work alongside supervised therapist trainees to provide compassionate care for families. Services are offered in English and Spanish, and we can help connect families with community partners for support in other languages if needed.
Program Goals
Blue Skies aims to:
- Reduce perinatal depression and anxiety through early assessment, intervention, and support for parent-child bonding.
- Enhance parent-child attachment with trauma-informed, responsive programming that builds on family strengths.
- Support overall mental wellness through consistent, reliable care tailored to the diverse needs of parents.
Services
Individual Therapy
Families enrolled in the Starting Out Strong home visiting programs may be referred to Blue Skies for individual therapy. Sessions are typically weekly, 50 minutes long, and last six to twelve months.
Therapeutic Groups
Blue Skies offers groups such as the Mom-to-Mom Depression Group and the Expressive Arts Group. These provide a supportive environment where parents can connect, share experiences, and learn tools to support their emotional wellness.
