Maternal, Paternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MPCAH) programs work to ensure that women, children, youth, fathers, and families achieve optimal health and well-being through the provision of client-centered, culturally responsive, strengths-based services and supports, combined with community transformation efforts that aim to improve neighborhood conditions.
Our target audience is families — women, men, and children — who reside in Alameda County.

Black Infant Health (BIH)

Black Infant Health is a group-based, social empowerment approach coupled with case management activities for pregnant Black women.

Blue Skies Mental Wellness

The Blue Skies Mental Wellness Program promotes the emotional health and well-being of pregnant individuals and parents with children under age two in Alameda County. The program supports the development of strong, healthy parent–child relationships during this critical early period.

Building Bridges for a Healthy Baby

Building Bridges is a nursing case management program that conducts physical and psychosocial assessment, education, and care planning for at-risk pregnant women and their families by Public Health Nurses.

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)

The MPCAH Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Team enhances program effectiveness and accountability through data management, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives. The team ensures that programs are driven by accurate data, evidence-based insights, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Contracts and Community Engagement

The Contracts and Community Engagement Team manages contract lifecycles, ensures compliance with contract deliverables, and build partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.

EmbraceHer

EmbraceHer program is a perinatal group intervention model targeting pregnant and parenting reproductive age African American women and birthing people residing in Alameda County.

Fatherhood Initiative

The Fatherhood Initiative centers the experiences and role that fathers play in the healthy development of their children and families through direct services and systems change.

Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR)

The FIMR program in Alameda County gathers data on fetal and infant loss, sharing it with providers to analyze and make community, behavioral, and healthcare system improvements.

Healthy Families Alameda County

Healthy Families Alameda County is an evidence-based, comprehensive, intensive home visiting program by trained social workers.

Nurse Family Partnership (NFP)

Nurse Family Partnership is a home visiting program that partners nurses with first-time moms, in order to give babies the best start in life.

Perinatal Equity Initiative

Perinatal Services and Family Planning works to improve pregnancy and family planning outcomes by ensuring all residents of the county have access to quality care.

Perinatal Services

The Perinatal Services team works to improve access to and provision of respectful equity-focused care for marginalized populations in Alameda County who have the highest rates of disparate birth outcomes such as preterm birth, hypertension, diabetes, and infant mortality.

Preconception and Reproductive Health

The Preconception and Reproductive Health program promotes positive sexuality and empowers people to decide if, when, and how many children they want to have, including pregnancy prevention and birth spacing.

Special Start

Special Start is a long-term, relationship-based program that supports families of premature and medically fragile infants after NICU discharge. Our multidisciplinary team coordinates care, connects families to key resources, and guides them through complex medical and social systems—helping each child get the best possible start.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) Program

The Alameda County SIDS program coordinates and reconciles reported cases, and promotes SIDS education and training.
